Coil life, liquid cost and the sour habit
We run sour the same way in Asunción: same cartomizer, same 8 days, same coil resistance. The only variable was the coil, and that turned out to be the thing buyers get wrong.
We run sour the same way in Asunción: same cartomizer, same 8 days, same coil resistance. The only variable was the coil, and that turned out to be the thing buyers get wrong.
If you only read one line: the cartomizer you buy decides how long sour tastes right, and the coil inside it decides how long that is.
What a sour cartomizer really costs in Asunción
The honest read on sour: 24 units through the same routine over 8 weeks, and the difference between a good batch and a bad one came down to batch age, not the sticker price.
How we tested sour in a cartomizer
- Settle the draw first: mouth-to-lung or direct-to-lung, because it decides the coil and the liquid.
- Pick the cartomizer that fits the device already on your desk, not the one on the headline page.
- Choose strength against the ceiling in Paraguay, which is the local legal limit for retail here.
- Batch code and production date, so a sour bottle turned in 8 weeks ago is not sold as new.
- Child-resistant cap and tamper band on every sour bottle shipped into Asunción.
- Spare parts availability for cartomizer in Asunción, since tanks and pods go first.
- The landed price per 10 ml after 5–10 business days, which is the only number worth comparing.
Where sour goes wrong
- Buying the cheapest cartomizer available and repeating it because the first coil burnt.
- Skipping the spare coil, which is the single part that decides how long sour in Asunción survives.
- Mixing sour with a coil rated for a different wattage, which dulls the flavour and drains liquid faster.

Frequently asked questions
Why does sour taste burnt?
Almost always the coil, not the liquid. On the cartomizer units we ran, a coil past 5 days turned the sour blend itself harsh.
How much does a cartomizer cost per 10 ml?
On the last run in Asunción: about Gs3.29 per 10 ml liquid plus Gs49 for the entry kit, before any bulk discount.
What nicotine strength should sour start at?
Start at whatever Paraguay allows on the label. If you already smoke, drop one step; if not, half of it for a cartomizer.
